His lordship was born in
Lahore on the 13th day of January, 1945 as the fifth child and the third
son of (late) Mr. Justice Muhammad Siddique.
2. After receiving his early education in different schools of Punjab, His
lordship matriculated from Central Model School, Lahore and joined
Government College, Lahore from where he migrated to Gordon College,
Rawalpindi, on account of his father’s posting in the Federal Ministry of
Law.
3. At Gordon College, Rawalpindi, His lordship was the Captain of the
College Tennis Team; was declared the best debator of the College, both in
English and Urdu languages; remained the Editor of the College Magazine,
“GORDONIAN” and also had the honour of having been elected, un-opposed, as
the President of the College Minerva Club. After graduation, His lordship
joined the Punjab University Law College at Lahore. During his stay at Law
College, His lordship remained the Secretary of the Punjab University Law
Society; was the Editor of the college magazine, "AL-MIZAN”; won a large
number of prizes and trophies in the International and All Pakistan
Inter-Collegiate Debates held in various colleges of Pakistan; was
declared the best English debator of the Punjab University in the year
1968 on wining the “KRISHAN KISHORE GROVER GOODWILL GOLD MEDAL DECLAMATION
CONTEST” held by the Punjab University and finally passed out from the Law
College in the year 1968 with a SPECIAL CERTIFICATE OF HONOUR for best all
round activities in academics, sports and debates etc..
4. His lordship joined the legal profession at Lahore and was enrolled as
an Advocate of the subordinate Courts in the year 1969; as an Advocate of
the High Courts in the year 1971 and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court
in the year 1976.
5. He was appointed as an Assistant Advocate General for the Province of
Punjab in April, 1976; was promoted as an Additional Advocate General in
the year 1984 and was finally appointed as the ADVOCATE GENERAL FOR THE
PROVINCE IN MARCH, 1987.
6. His lordship was ELEVATED TO THE BENCH OF THE LAHORE HIGH COURT IN
OCTOBER, 1988 and was FURTHER ELEVATED AS A JUDGE OF THE SUPREME COURT OF
PAKISTAN IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY, 2002.
7. His lordship has remained a visiting Assistant Professor at the Punjab
University Law College, Lahore and is presently a member of the visiting
Faculty of the Civil Services Academy of Pakistan and the National
Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) at Lahore since 1982. Also has
the honour of delivering lectures at the National Defence College,
Islamabad, the Administrative Staff College of Pakistan, the Naval War
College and the Air Force War College of Pakistan.
8. His lordship has been on the Board of Governors of the Lahore
University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Lahore School of
Economics. He has also been a member of the Syndicate of the Islamia
University, Bahawalpur and the Agriculture University, Faisalabad. Is
presently a member of the Board of Governors of the Air University and the
University of Modern Languages and Disciplines, Islamabad and a member of
the Syndicate of Quaid-e-Azam University at Islamabad.
9. In recognition of the services rendered by His lordship in the field of
education especially the legal branch of education as also in the
administration of justice, His lordship was, in May, 2005, honoured with
an Honorary degree of DOCTOR OF LAWS by the Guru Nanak Dev University,
Amritsar which is rated amongst the top ten universities of India.
10. His lordship has also had the honour of addressing the Gurkul Kangri
University at Haridewar in India where he had been invited to talk about
inter-faith harmony. On the same subject, His lordship also addressed the
Rotary International South Asia Goodwill Summit, 2007 held at Delhi in
February, 2007.
