SC REDRESSES THE GRIEVANCE IN HUMAN RIGHTS CASES

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Notice on application by employees of Climax Engineering Company, Gujaranawala registered through Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad. The applicants stated that their salaries are not being paid for the last three months and they have prayed for necessary directions in this regard.

Taking the cognizance, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:

            “Report be called from the Secretary, Labour Department, Govt. of Punjab within a period of two weeks.”

            Complying with the above directions, Secretary, Labour Department, Punjab, Lahore submitted report that: 

“The company assured that outstanding dues shall be paid within a month to remaining workers. The General Secretary, Climax Worker Union confirmed that negotiation with the management regarding payment of salaries and downsizing are in progress

The report further stated that six terminated workers of Climax Company filed their claims for defrayal of their legal dues before the Authority under payment and wages and an amount to the tune of Rs. 1005493/- has been recovered from the management and same have been defrayed to the applicant workers.”

As the grievance of the applicant has been redressed, the application was filed accordingly.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Notice on application of Mr. Abdul Rahim, resident of District Ghotki registered through Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad. The applicant stated in his application that Home Department Govt. of Sindh without assigning any authentic/suitable reason has withdrawn/cancelled the recruitment to the post of Assistant Sub Inspector which was advertised on 09-06-2011 by Secretary SPSC. The Govt. of Sindh has recently given advertisement dated 08-12-2012 inviting therein fresh recruitment for the post of ASIs/Police constables and that these posts will be will be filled on political grounds. 

Taking the cognizance, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:

            “Application may be forwarded to Secretary Home Department Sindh for report within a fortnight .”

            Complying with the above directions, IGP, Sindh submitted report that: 

“Due to stay order passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Sindh, the said process of appointment ASI is withheld till further orders, of the Hon’ble Court.”

As the grievance of the applicant has been redressed, the application was filed accordingly.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Notice on application of Mr. Muhammad Rafique resident of District Bahawalpur registered through Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad. The applicant prayed that fair investigation of the case with regard to the murder of his brother FIR of which was registered at Police station District Bahawalpur. 

Taking the cognizance, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:

            “Report be called from the Inspector General of Police Punjab within a period of two weeks .”

            Complying with the above directions, IGP, Punjab submitted report that: 

“The challan against the arrested accused has been prepared and sent to the court. Preventive proceedings have also been initiated against the parties.”

 

As the grievance of the applicant has been redressed, the application was filed accordingly.
