SC REDRESSES THE GRIEVANCE IN HUMAN RIGHTS CASES

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Notice on application of Raja Muhammad Akram R/o Sindh, Thatta, registered through Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad. He stated in his application that his pension case is not being finalized inspite of his repreated requests. He prayed for release of his pension. 

Taking the cognizance, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:

            “Report be called from DCO Thatta within seven days.”

            Complying with the above directions, DCO, Thatta submitted report that: 

“This matter already been sent to the Secretary Social Welfare through Provincial Coordinator Social Welfare Government of Sindh Karachi, as the District Accounts Officer Thatta has raised objection on retirement T.A. Bill of Mr. Raja Muhammad Akram Ex-D Special Welfare Thatta for want of budget in the head of retirement TA. The same had also been forwarded to Mr. Raja Muhammad Akram. It is further submitted that all the service payments including pension etc have been paid to Mr. Raja Muhammad Akram except retirement TA about which it has already been mentioned above that the District Accounts Officer had raised objection thereon for want of budge in the said head and the said matter has already been forwarded to Secretary Social Welfare for special budget in the head of TA.”

After going through the above report the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:- 

Copy of application alongwith report be forwarded Secretary Social Welfare Sindh for disposal according to law.

 The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Notice on application registered through Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad. The applicant stated in his application that corrupt contractors in connivance with corrupt officials of NHA have constructed a sub standard road from Quetta to Chaman. He prayed for construction of said road and recovery of illegally usurped Government fund from the contractors.

Taking the cognizance, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:

            “Report be called from DG, NHA Quetta within 15 days.”

            Complying with the above directions, DG, NHA submitted report that: 

“the Government of Pakistan and NHA are presently negotiating with USAID for provision of funds required for the completion of remaining works on this project and a MOU in this regard will be signed soon. The execution of remaining work on this project will be undertaken by Frontier works Organization who will be mobilized on site within next two months, since in the present scenario it is not possible for any civilian contractor to complete a Mega Project in Baluchistan Province. The remaining works on the project are therefore likely to be completed within 06 months of mobilization of FWO i.e. upto September 2013.”

As the grievance of the applicant has been redressed, the application was filed accordingly.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took Notice on application of Mr. Muhammad Iqbal R/o District Khoshab registered through Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad. The applicant prayed for arrest of accused involved in murder case of his cousin. 

Taking the cognizance, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan ordered that:

            “Report be obtained from IGP, Punjab within a period of 15 days.” 

            Complying with the above directions, IGP, Punjab submitted report that:

“Incomplete challan against two accused has been sent in the Court which is pending trail in the Court. Investigation has been finalized on merits.”

  

As the grievance of the applicant has been redressed, the application was filed accordingly.
