SC DISPOSED OF 272 CASES IN A WEEK

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of 272 cases whereas 215 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday 25th May 2013 to Friday 31st May 2013. The backlog remains 19125.

The backlog in the apex Court on 25th May 2013 was 19182 cases. As 215 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday 25th May 2013 to Friday 31st May 2013, the progressive total of pending cases on 31st May 2013 came to 19397 cases. Out of these, 272 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday 27th May 2013 to Friday May 31st May 2013. The backlog on 31st May 2013 remains 19125 cases.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted various Benches at the principal seat, Islamabad and at Branch Registry Peshawar to expedite the case hearings and clear the backlog

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court remained committed to accelerate disposal of the cases and diminish the backlog. The Hon’ble Judges continued to hear the cases with the aim to minimize the backlog and provide relief to the litigants.
