SC DISPOSED OF 588 CASES IN A WEEK

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of 588 cases whereas 376 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday 15th June 2013 to Friday 21st June 2013. The backlog remains 18956.

The backlog in the apex Court on 14th June 2013 was 19168 cases. As 376 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday 15th June 2013 to Friday 21st June 2013, the progressive total of pending cases on 21st June 2013 came to 19544 cases. Out of these, 588 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday 17th June 2013 to Friday 21st June 2013. The backlog on 21st June 2013 remains 18956 cases.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted various Benches at the principal seat, Islamabad, Branch Registry Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta to expedite the case hearings and clear the backlog

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Hon’ble Judges of Supreme Court remained committed to accelerate disposal of the cases and diminish the backlog. The Hon’ble Judges continued to hear the cases with the aim to minimize the backlog and provide relief to the litigants.
