HCJP TAKES NOTICE ON THE INCIDENT OF FIRING IN JINNAH AVENUE ISLAMABAD ON 15.08.2013

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has taken notice on a Petition filed by Mr. M. Tariq Asad, Advocate, Supreme Court against the media/all channels which telecast the occurrence of 15.08.2013 in which a person named Sikandar accompanied with his two kids and wife carrying prohibited weapons/ammunition, drove his car after crossing all the Police check posts/barriers and entered into the Jinnah Avenue, Islamabad in front of the Parliament Building at about 05:30PM and started firing by holding the whole city hostage for about 05 hours and 30 minutes causing fear and harassment amongst the citizens.
 
In the above petition, the petitioner has prayed for the constitution of a Judicial Commission to probe into the matter and place responsibility on those who were responsible to prolong the occurrence, allow the public to watch the scene; and to take action against Chief Commissioner, Islamabad for allowing the TV channels to telecast live transmission of such terrorism against their code of conduct.
 
 
The above matter has been registered as Constitution Petition No. 47 of 2013 and the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan has ordered to fix the above petition before the Supreme Court at Islamabad in Bench No. 1 on 19.08.2013.
