A 10 Member delegation of the High Court Bar Association, Hyderabad alongwith other office bearers from Hyderabad and Sanghar today called on the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry at the Supreme Court Branch Registry, Karachi and discussed with him important issues relevant to the legal profession and administration of justice. They appreciated the efforts made by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Supreme Court in taking up important issues such as the law and order situation in Karachi and other cases of curbing corruption, bringing about merit in appointments, award of contracts and improving governance in the country. They said that the Supreme Court has become a catalyst of change for bringing about transparency and accountability in the administration, enforcing fundamental rights and redressing the grievances of the general public.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan responded by saying that the members of the Bar were in the forefront of struggle for independence of judiciary and rule of law and though their steadfast support to the judiciary assisted the courts to expeditiously decide cases and giving relief to the litigant parties. The members of the delegation appreciated the elevation of new judges in the High Court of Sindh and said that with increased strength, the High Court should be able to address the backlog of the pending cases and give quick relief to aggrieved parties. The delegation thanked the Hon’ble Chief Justice for giving them time and listening to their issues and problems. The members of the delegation included Mr. Ayaz Hussain Tunio, General Secretary and other office bearers as well as Mr. Anwar Mehmood Nizamani, former President of the Sanghar Bar Association.
